EDC hears updates on multiple Hooksett development projects

In a standing agenda item the EDC received a round of short development updates covering active sites and proposals around Hooksett.
Members described work at the former Kmart plaza, where site activity includes a planned Panera pad and storage-unit additions; a Dunkin' Donuts project on Alice Avenue; a recently opened Kawasaki dealer; and conceptual plans for infill, storage and small commercial buildings. Members noted that Market Basket owns its building, while Walmart and Bass Pro may hold property under land leases; the committee said those ownership patterns matter for outreach.
The committee also mentioned a conceptual approval for a large industrial or warehouse facility in the Exit 11 area and said Brady Sullivan has acquired a parcel in the area near the former golf course. Members discussed pressure on other redevelopment sites including a vacant plaza with a recent Rite Aid closure and a rehabilitation project at an old bakery building being repurposed for offices.
Separately, the committee said the wildlife-rehabilitation group at the foot of Hackett Hill is continuing fundraising and grant-seeking and that a trail project by the Conservation Commission is planned adjacent to that property.
Why it matters: Committee members said these projects together represent steady private investment, offer new taxable value and affect traffic and utility planning across town. No formal votes were taken on these items at the meeting.
