Volunteer emergency drivers seek county clarification after weeks‑long delay in certification policy

A volunteer radio officer told the commissioners the county's volunteer driver certification for emergency management vehicles has been delayed for about five weeks, and asked commissioners to intervene to resolve the policy issue so volunteers can legally operate county vehicles.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Tom Dennis, a volunteer radio officer with Mason County Emergency Management, urged the Board of Commissioners Oct. 14 to look into a delay in the county’s policy for certifying volunteers to drive county vehicles.
