Bill 250835, authorizing a sidewalk cafe at 1526–32 N. American Street, was reviewed by the Department of Streets and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission at the Committee on Streets and Services on Oct. 16.
Noelle Marconi, Director of Legislative Affairs for the Department of Streets, testified the bill "authorizes Funk Brothers LLC, the owner, to install and maintain encroachments in the nature of a sidewalk cafe" at Westick and Brewing Company at 1526–32 N. American Street and confirmed that a minimum of nine feet of clear unobstructed footway would be maintained. Marconi said the Department is not opposed to the proposed encroachment.
Sarah Chu of the City Planning Commission said the proposal "meets the minimum required dimensions of the complete street policy of the Philadelphia code" and that the planning commission recommended Bill 250835 for approval.
No public witnesses testified on this item during the hearing. The committee later amended another sidewalk cafe bill and reported this bill to the full council with a favorable recommendation as part of a package motion; the committee adopted that motion by voice vote.
