The full story
Melissa Palmer, Mohave County Department of Public Health, summarized national advisory changes and how they may affect local operations. She reported that Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s early actions included restructuring ACIP, reducing federal mRNA vaccine research funding, and reinstating a congressionally created task force on vaccine-safety communications. Palmer said ACIP votes and guidance since mid-2025 included a shift toward individual decision-making and enhanced informed-consent processes for COVID vaccination recommendations and a decision to remove the combined MMRV'( measles-mumps-rubella-varicella) product from universal recommendation for younger children while continuing separate MMR and varicella vaccine recommendations.
