"So it—s a $50 a year fee for maintenance for the website," one staffer said. Commissioners and staff debated whether the county should charge residents for permits to offset platform costs, and several said they preferred not to charge residents if a low-cost county-managed option was feasible.
Officials discussed local needs: mapping permits for dispatch and documenting burns to avoid unnecessary emergency responses. Commissioners directed staff to investigate simple options first, such as posting a fillable PDF form on the county website that residents could print and submit, and to continue exploring third-party platforms and potential fee structures. "I can look into that. I'll play with that," staff said about adding a form to the website.
