The Edmonds Citizens Planning Board unanimously appointed Danielle DeCouto as its student representative for the 2025–2026 term during its Oct. 8 meeting.
Danielle DeCouto, a freshman at Edmonds Woodway High School, told the board she applied because she wanted “to make a difference to my community,” and said she hoped to bring a youth perspective to planning discussions. Board members who interviewed her described her as notably mature for her grade and praised her application.
The board moved and seconded the appointment and approved it without recorded opposition. Members encouraged DeCouto to participate regularly; one member noted she had offered to play violin for the board at a future meeting.
The appointment was taken at the start of the meeting before the board moved to other business, including agenda approval and substantive planning items scheduled for later in the evening.
