Staff told the committee that two large water main breaks on Sept. 21 heavily damaged pavement at the Q Center and that emergency proposals were solicited. Of the proposals received, one vendor submitted a quote of approximately $118,000, which staff recommended for award to complete pavement repairs.
A committee member asked whether the city owns the water main and whether standard practice requires the city to repair pavement damage resulting from main breaks. Staff replied that repairing damage from large main breaks is standard practice and that the city often restores landscaping or pavement when municipal work destroys private or public property.
Finance will prepare a budget addition at Government Operations to fund the repair work. The committee moved and approved the recommendation by roll call.
