The Grosse Ile Township Board on Oct. 27 approved zoning text amendments to amend the chapters cited in the agenda materials to update provisions governing performance guarantees for public infrastructure improvements such as roads and driveways.
Staff said the changes extend previously adopted assurance provisions to additional code sections so applicants are required to submit performance guarantees at rates set by the board for public infrastructure work. Ross, community development staff, told the board the item was an expansion of similar updates adopted at an earlier meeting and apologized for the delay in bringing the final sections forward.
The board approved the text amendments by voice vote. The action will be reflected in the township’s zoning ordinance and applied to future development reviews requiring public infrastructure improvements.
Why it matters: The amendments set expectations about financial assurances required from developers or applicants to guarantee installation and maintenance of public infrastructure. That affects project approvals and potential fiscal liability for the township.
