Summary
Federal reviewers found no corrective actions and commended the Martin MPO for public engagement and transit planning. The report includes recommendations to add demographic and transit layers to the MPO's interactive project prioritization map and to improve LRTP fiscal‑constraint transparency.
Federal review staff presented the 2025 Transportation Management Area (TMA) certification findings to the Martin MPO on Oct. 27, reporting no corrective actions and identifying four noteworthy practices and two recommendations.
Erica Thompson, a member of the Federal Review Team, said the reviewers commended Martin County Transit for a transit‑efficiency study and improved service connectivity along U.S. 1, and they praised the Martin MPO for an interactive project‑prioritization map and strong public engagement that yielded 700 completed surveys. "The Federal Review Team commends the Martin County Transit for developing a transit efficiency study and collaborating to improve service connectivity along State Road 1," Thompson said.
The team recommended that the MPO add demographic and transit layers to its interactive map to better reflect community needs and suggested adding clearer fiscal‑constraint information to the Long Range Transportation Plan to show project lists alongside available revenues.
The board voted to accept the 2025 certification report at the meeting; the motion was moved by Commissioner Hetherington. (County counsel later advised the board that some votes taken at the meeting should be re‑considered because the agenda packet had not been posted to the public website; see separate article.)
