Lewis County schedules Nov. 4 hearings on fourth 2025 budget amendment and code changes

The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 21 approved notices scheduling public hearings on two items: the fourth budget amendment for 2025 and proposed changes to Chapter 2 of the Lewis County Code.
"This is a notice hearing for the fourth budget amendment for 2025," Becky Butler said, describing the procedure to publish notice and the public-comment timeline. The board set a public hearing for Nov. 4 at 10:00 a.m. and moved to publish the notice in the Chronicle. Written comments on the budget amendment will be accepted by mail at 351 Northwest North Street, Chehalis, Washington, or by email to bocc@lewiscountywah.gov and must be received by 10:00 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2025.
Butler said the amendment affects all funds and summarized the staff-reported figures: a revenue increase of $89,814 and an expenditure increase of $302,468. She added that the general fund portion reflects a revenue increase of $37,064 and an expenditure increase of $177,450. Staff noted an anticipated equipment repair & replacement (ER&R) transfer between the Rhodes and the ER&R Fund that may be reflected at the hearing.
Mindy Brooks, director of community development, presented the code amendment notice. "This is a notice of hearing for amendments to chapter 2 of the Lewis County code," Brooks said, explaining the package would add an overarching code on forming and maintaining advisory groups and would revise Lewis County Code 2.11 (the Planning Commission code) to align with the new overarching section. Brooks said written comments for the code changes may be submitted to her through Nov. 4.
A commissioner moved and a second was recorded to approve the two notice items (Resolutions 25-289 and 25-290). The board approved the motion by voice vote, 3-0.
