Staff presented the first edition of the district27s quarterly magazine, titled the Report Card, at the Oct. 20 meeting. The publication is a district communications effort intended to spotlight student work and district programs.
Kristen (presenter) said the first issue contains four articles produced by students in the Phoenix 5 journalism class, plus advertising space currently taken by school-based programs. Staff said printing for the initial run was paid from Title funds and plans call for community distribution at locations such as chamber offices and real-estate offices to promote the district.
Board members praised the student contributors and discussed making the magazine self-sustaining by selling local ads in future editions. Staff said a second issue is planned for January and invited board members to circulate copies during recruitment and community events.
