County commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing National 4‑H Week after local 4‑H members described program scale and outcomes. The board approved the resolution by voice vote.
Goodhue County commissioners on Oct. 7 adopted a resolution proclaiming National 4‑H Week after members of the county’s 4‑H program presented program highlights to the board.
Allie Koechner, who introduced the youth delegation, said the county’s 4‑H program reached 1,001 members in the 2024–25 program year and that Goodhue County ranks among the top four counties in Minnesota for enrollment. "I've been in 4‑H now for the last 10 years," said Edward (Eddie) Winters, one of the youth representatives, describing the program’s emphasis on science‑based, hands‑on learning.
The proclamation notes that 4‑H connects youth to volunteers and university Cooperative Extension resources and commends the organization’s role in developing leadership, public speaking and resilience. After the presentation, a board member moved and another seconded to adopt the resolution as presented; the motion carried by voice vote.
The board encouraged residents to recognize the impact of 4‑H programs and thanked the youth leaders for their presentation.
