Rowan County recognizes graduates of Leadership Development Program

Rowan County presented certificates Nov. 3 to graduates of its Leadership Development Program, a multi-month county training initiative for staff across departments.
Wes (Wesley) Thompson spoke on behalf of his classmates, describing the program’s monthly sessions that ran from January through September and praising the opportunity to learn about other departments’ work. "We had the opportunity to come out and meet some of my classmates ... to understand the thought process, to see what the other departments do," Thompson told commissioners.
County officials on the dais praised the program as an investment in succession and management capacity. One speaker said the quality of the organization begins with quality leadership and highlighted county efforts to support managerial training; officials singled out Aaron Church (named in remarks) for leadership development opportunities. Several graduates briefly described takeaways such as teamwork, understanding personal strengths and building interdepartmental relationships.
The board recognized the graduates with certificates and took a group photograph. The presentation was added to the start of the Nov. 3 agenda and conducted before regular business to honor participants.
