The South Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education, meeting Nov. 4, voted unanimously on several administrative and labor-related items, including three closed-session student settlement agreements, approval of required AB 1200 financial disclosures for tentative labor agreements, and one-time off-schedule payments equal to 3% of base salary for multiple employee groups and administrators.
Board President Tamas reported that, after the closed session, the board had approved settlement agreements for student ID numbers 3183063693, 4529505756 and 9134369763, each by a 5–0 vote. The board then moved and approved the consent agenda (items 8.01–8.21) without discussion.
The board approved the AB 1200 disclosures required under Assembly Bill 1200 to disclose the fiscal impact of tentative agreements before final approval. The district presented two tentative agreements (one with CSEA and one with confidential and management employees) and requested board approval of the AB 1200 disclosures.
On bargaining matters, the board approved a tentative agreement with CSCA for the 2024–25 school year and approved CSCA’s initial proposal to open three articles for 2025–26 negotiations. The board also approved the district’s initial proposal to CSEA to open four articles for 2025–26 negotiations.
In personnel actions, the board approved a provisional internship permit for a long-term substitute teacher in a TK classroom who has met TK requirements but has not completed a credential. The board also approved one-time, off-schedule payments equal to 3% of regular base salary for certificated management, classified management and confidential employees to align with negotiated tentative agreements; related 3% off-schedule payments for specific administrators (associate superintendent, assistant superintendent of business services, assistant superintendent of human resources and director-level positions) were approved in batch.
The board approved changing the regularly scheduled May meeting from May 12 to May 19 due to a calendar conflict. All recorded roll-call votes on the major items in open session were announced aloud; for the consent agenda the board recorded the following affirmative votes in sequence: Miss DeStefano; Ms. Adams; Doctor. Gipke; Doctor. Martinez Miller; Mr. Raul; Ms. Daniels.
No additional public action was taken on the matters raised during public comment; several items heard during visitor comments were separately noted by staff and trustees for follow-up.
