Decatur EDC clears real‑estate sale to International Aviation Composites for rotor‑blade testing tower

The Decatur City Council on Jan. 27 authorized the Decatur Economic Development Corporation to execute a real‑estate sales contract with International Aviation Composites (IAC) to locate a rotor‑blade testing tower at Eagles Landing Business Park.

EDC staff said the prospect was referred by an existing Decatur company and represents job creation and investment in the city. Deal points recited in the public presentation included a minimum capital investment of $2,675,000 to be completed by Oct. 31, 2026; a requirement to construct the rotor‑blade testing tower and commence operations by that deadline; elevated landscaping standards for site appearance in the industrial park; and a right of repurchase clause that would allow the EDC to reacquire the property for $1 and require removal of improvements if the developer does not construct the testing tower by the agreed date.

IAC president Randy Stevens attended and provided brief background on the company’s history and interest in locating operations in Decatur. Council members moved and seconded a motion authorizing the EDC president to execute the real‑estate sales contract within parameters discussed in the executive session; the motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Action taken: council authorized the EDC president to execute the real‑estate sales contract between IAC Limited and the Decatur EDC, within the parameters discussed in executive session.
