Member Francis reported to the full board: "We have been tasked, via Senate Bill 204 with, pairing out the requirements for the required parental rights training for school board trustees. Members, this responsibility includes creating a curriculum and a course for school board members to to be able to, take that." He said the agency also must provide a parental handbook by Jan. 1, 2026. Francis said he had asked Vice Chair Pickering to lead a small work group with the agency and requested a compressed timeline: meet and have a draft by November, bring the course for first reading in January, and meet the statutory availability deadline of April 1, 2026.
