At its Sept. 8 meeting the West Bend Board of Public Works approved three stormwater maintenance agreements and permit amendments to ensure long-term maintenance and compliance with previously approved stormwater designs.
City staff explained the Lakewood Farms subdivision would create 97 residential lots, four new streets and a wet detention pond that will outlet to County Highway N and ultimately drain to Highway 45. Staff recommended approval of the maintenance agreement, and the board approved it after a brief question about long-term responsibilities; staff said a homeowners association would typically assume maintenance after development.
The board also approved an amendment to a 2000 stormwater permit for the Wingate Creek Business Center so a proposed We Energies service center and storage yard will maintain the stormwater inlets and pipes on its parcel while remaining compliant with the original regional pond design.
A third amendment covered a dealership that acquired adjacent property and expanded parking; staff said the owner will place the required stormwater-management features on the newly acquired land and maintain them under the existing permit number. The board voted to approve that amendment as well.
In each case staff confirmed the agreements are intended to match current development plans to the original permit designs and to document the property owner—s maintenance obligations under city code and state DNR regulations.
