Jason Tab, juvenile detention superintendent, reported to the McLean County Board Health Committee that the juvenile facility is currently without a full-time nurse. The facility is using a part-time nurse to fill gaps and the contracted physician continues weekly visits and will assume additional day-to-day responsibilities as needed.
Tab said the number of medical contacts reported will decline over the next couple of months while staffing remains thin. He indicated the current population level allows coverage at present but that the facility is actively seeking a replacement nurse.
Committee members asked whether short-term coverage is adequate; Tab said current staffing handles the present population but the situation will be monitored until a full-time nurse is hired. No formal action was taken; the update was informational.
