Commission approves applications for three MoDOT BRO bridge-replacement projects

Staff emphasized that any awarded BRO projects are selected regionally and that some bridge replacements exceed the county’s in-house statutory capability when spans exceed 80 feet.
Commissioners noted the need to stage work so that openings are maintained for residents; staff said the two Old Cadet bridges would be replaced sequentially to avoid trapping people on either side. The motion to pursue BRO applications passed by voice vote; commissioners reiterated that BRO funds and the required soft-match credits reduce direct county bridge-funding needs when projects are awarded.
