Council approves change order adding warehouse space to public works building; under budget with contingency

Heath City Council approved a contract change order on Jan. 14 to expand the new public works building design with two additional 20‑by‑60‑foot warehouse bays (approximately 2,400 square feet of added covered storage) and to extend the construction schedule by 30 days.
Public works staff explained that updated pricing and procurement allowed the additions to be made within existing budget capacity; contingencies remain in the project budget. Staff recommended proceeding with the change order so the city would not need to retrofit additional storage later at greater expense. Council moved, seconded and approved the change order unanimously.
Staff also confirmed the project will continue to meet code and accessibility requirements and that the construction inspection and payment process will continue to follow city procedures.
