Decatur County accepts GM Development payout, approves racing insurance and hires audio vendor for fair

The board authorized an $844 racing/track insurance policy and an updated safety plan for truck-drag events that requires an additional 20-foot spectator setback from the track and concrete barriers where appropriate. County staff said the requirement was driven by underwriter conditions and the need to protect spectators and bleacher placements.
Commissioners also approved a discounted contract with ClearSound to provide audio and visual equipment for the fair stage. The contract price after discount is $4,077.45 (commissioners said the vendor offered a 35% discount from the typical charge). The ClearSound work includes speakers, lights and wireless microphones for multiple performances scheduled during the fair.
County staff said they need to re-execute one insurance document for uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage due to a clerical error and approved re-signing the corrected paperwork.
Why it matters: the fairground construction payout funds ongoing work, the insurance and safety plan are prerequisites for public events on the track, and the A/V contract secures production equipment for scheduled performances.
