Commissioners on July 7 approved multiple credit-card authorizations intended to improve expense tracking and, in one case, to meet an IRS requirement for tax-exempt purchase forms.
CIT coordinator Mike Eggleston requested a dedicated credit card for Crisis Intervention Team purchases so the program can document expenditures separately and seek reimbursement from partner agencies as needed. The sheriff’s department will be the custodian of the card, Eggleston said, and the board approved the request.
Commissioners also authorized a maintenance card for routine courthouse repairs and an additional commissioner card for travel and training. Patty explained the maintenance card would make it easier to assign costs directly to the maintenance program and to find charges in monthly records.
Separately, staff described a new IRS practice that requires the name on a tax-exempt form to match the name on the payment card. The prosecutors’ office requested cards for two staff (Nate Carter and Sarah) and the child-support division requested a card for Shelly Warfield to make tax-exempt conference and training purchases without being forced to use personal cards and seek reimbursement; the board approved those requests.
All requests were approved by voice vote during the meeting; no roll-call tallies were provided.
