Rachel Morgan, the museum’s new director, presented a project grant request of $31,475 to fund archival storage cases, paper boxes, exhibit materials and mobile workstations to improve artifact preservation and public access at the Collin County History Museum. Morgan emphasized the old post office building itself is an artifact and said better storage will enable more educational programming and broader community engagement.
Board members asked whether the museum had sought other funding sources, potential county or municipal contributions, and grant opportunities; Morgan said the museum relies on private donations, membership growth plans and will explore other municipal outreach. The public hearing closed after board questions; the board did not record a vote on the request at the Jan. 23 meeting.
