The club framed the work as essential to protect the Byron Nelson PGA tournament, which the presenter said generates an estimated $30 million in total economic impact and substantial local hotel room nights.
Board members agreed the erosion corrections are important but several said MCDC investment should be tied to assurance the Byron Nelson tournament remains hosted at Craig Ranch. One board member proposed contingency language making funding approval conditional on a signed extension; the presenter said the company has invested extensively and is negotiating agreements to retain the tournament.
