Shelton parks and recreation: pickleball turnout, Cross Trails kickoff and two parks board vacancies announced

Kratos said the fall pickleball league concluded with 10 teams. The district is about a quarter of the way through a women—s 4-on-4 volleyball season and is accepting youth basketball registrations for grades 2 through 6; registration closes the Monday of Thanksgiving and the season will begin after the holidays. Kratos said the district will partner with the high school girls— team to support youth basketball and that scholarships are available for families that need financial help.
On capital work, Kratos said staff will hold a kickoff meeting for Cross Trails Phase 1 in the next week and are developing a scope of work for Phase 2. He said staff are preparing logistics for a large project next year referred to in the meeting as the "pros plan." Kratos also said two seats on the parks board will be open starting in January and invited interested residents to apply.
A board member offered oral appreciation for the finance and parks staff—s work on a recent audit and for the summer programming. The district announced its next special meeting for Nov. 18 at 5:45 p.m., and the meeting adjourned at 5:53 p.m.
