Coryell County forms IT transition team as vendor visits this week

Commissioner Scott Weddell proposed a county IT transition team to coordinate the transition to Goldsmith Solutions, which the county intends to engage for managed IT services. Weddell read a proposed slate of members including the county judge, elected officials and department staff: Judge Roger Miller; Commissioner Scott Weddell; Justin Carruthers (tax assessor-collector); Jennifer Newton (county clerk); Sergeant Spencer (sheriff's office); County Attorney Brandon Belt; and Road & Bridge administrator Justin Latham.
Goldsmith Solutions is on-site Thursday and Friday for initial assessments. Commissioners and staff discussed priorities for transition work: hardware and operating-system inventories, licensing renewals, rack space and data-center arrangements, department-specific applications and the development of IT policies. Goldsmith agreed to assist in preparing procurement documents and to identify out-of-scope work and associated costs.
The court approved the transition-team slate. Staff will schedule the first transition-team meeting with Goldsmith, invite department heads and circulate a list of vendor personnel who will be on-site so departments can authenticate attendees.
