Clovis issues Veterans Week and Green Light proclamations; parade set for Nov. 8

The Clovis City Commission presented proclamations recognizing Veterans Week in November and a related Green Light for Veterans Week campaign and accepted comments from the Joint Veterans Council on parade and event planning.
John Montano of the Joint Veterans Council told the commission the parade would begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, and that as of the meeting he had 30 confirmed entries though road construction has shortened the parade route. The VFW Post 3280 will host awards and an open house following the parade, Montano said. Organizers encouraged additional parade entries and said registrations could be made at the Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Mike Morris read a city proclamation declaring November 2025 as Veterans Week. Commissioner Porter assisted in presenting a Green Light proclamation recognizing veterans and encouraging businesses and residents to display green lights during the designated week. Commissioner Paula noted the local veteran population figures and cited transition‑stress statistics included in the proclamation text.
The commission thanked veterans and active‑duty members in attendance and acknowledged concerns about the federal government shutdown affecting military pay that several speakers mentioned during remarks.
