Contractor: Page County jail project on track for spring substantial completion

Sandals Group project manager Jeff Curtis told Page County supervisors that construction of the new jail is progressing on schedule, with several mechanical and structural milestones approaching.

Curtis said O'Neil Electric is advancing overhead and in‑wall electrical work and that MidAmerican crews are pulling conductors to the building transformer. “That’s a good milestone to have,” Curtis said, noting the project will switch over to permanent power once the transformer and switchgear are commissioned.

Upcoming milestones include generator delivery in December, continued masonry and ductwork coordination, and metal stud framing at the main entry. Curtis said metal detention panels and detention door frames are due in December; once frames are installed crews will proceed with glazing and interior finishing. The contractor’s schedule shows substantial completion around April–May, with security commissioning and dispatch/911 system installation planned for June–July.

Curtis said the team performed concrete testing and rebar verification on entry pours last week and that temporary heaters will be used to keep work moving through colder weather. He told supervisors that crews are coordinating closely across trades to keep the schedule on track.

No change orders or budget adjustments were presented at the meeting; supervisors asked routine scheduling and finishing questions but did not take further action.
