The Clay County School Board approved several routine and organizational items during its Nov. 6 meeting.
Meeting schedule: The board approved the superintendent’s proposed schedule of regular meetings for December 2025 through November 2026 — generally the first Thursday of each month, with exceptions for Dec. 11, 2025; Jan. 8, 2026; and June 25, 2026 — to be held at 6 p.m. at Fleming Island High School and the Teacher and Service Center. The motion was made by Ashley Gillhausen and seconded by Miss Clark; the vote was 5–0.
Policies and bylaws: The board opened and closed a public hearing on advertised revisions to school board policies and bylaws; no members of the public spoke on the revisions. Miss Hanson moved to approve the revisions; Mr. Alvaro seconded. The board voted 5–0 to adopt the advertised changes.
Consent agenda and proclamations: The board adopted the consent agenda (5–0). The consent items included proclamations: Proclamation 26‑07 (establishing National Education Week, Nov. 17–21, 2025, and Educational Support Professionals Day, Nov. 19, 2025) and Proclamation 26‑08 (establishing School Psychologist Week, Nov. 3–7, 2025).
Organizational elections: Under the organizational meeting provisions in Florida Statutes §1001.371, the board conducted nominations for chair and vice chair. Two members were nominated for chair; Erin Skipper was selected by voice/hand‑raise vote to serve as chair and Ashley Gillhausen was later selected as vice chair. The board presented a plaque acknowledging outgoing service and confirmed the leadership for the coming year.
Other routine action: The board also approved authorization for payment of bonds for school board members (motion carried 5–0). No contested roll‑call votes were recorded; all recorded motions passed unanimously.
The board did not take additional new policy votes beyond the advertised bylaws changes, and no formal salary action was adopted during the meeting; bargaining and budget matters remain under negotiation.
