Commission Finds 156-Unit Riverside Development Consistent with March Air Reserve Base Compatibility Plan

The Riverside County Airport Land Use Commission on Oct. 9 voted unanimously to find the proposed 156-unit multifamily development in the city of Riverside consistent with the March Air Reserve Base compatibility plan.
Staff planner Jackie Vega presented the project (ZAP1660MA25) as a proposal to merge 9.13 acres into one lot for condominium purposes and to amend the Canyon Springs Business Park specific plan to create a mixed-use urban zone. Vega said the site is entirely within March ARB Airport Influence Area Zone D, where staff said there are no density or nonresidential-intensity restrictions; the site is approximately 14,648 feet from the runway, so FAA height/wildlife basin recommendations do not apply.
No speakers from the public requested to testify other than an applicant representative who was available to answer questions, and commissioners had no substantive questions. The commission closed the public hearing at 9:50 a.m. and approved staff—s recommendation to find the specific plan amendment, general plan amendment, and change of zone consistent with the March ARB Inland Port ALUCP, subject to the conditions in the staff report.
The motion passed unanimously with all members present voting in the affirmative.
