MSAD 51 activates campus alert badges, details multi-layer safety upgrades in annual update

MSAD 51 Superintendent Jeff delivered the district’s annual safety and security update on Oct. 23, outlining physical and emotional safeguards the district has added since a 2019–21 Homeland Security threat and vulnerability assessment.

Jeff said the district has been working off that assessment and “this is an annual update” of several programs and infrastructure upgrades. Key changes announced include a newly activated Syntegix Scribe Alert badge system (activated two weeks earlier), expanded video surveillance and visitor‑management software, continued ALICE training and anonymous reporting through Sandy Hook Promise. The superintendent said the district has two school resource officers on a combined 1.5 full‑time equivalent (FTE) arrangement and presented proposals to add another SRO to match facilities and enrollment growth.
