During the Nov. 10 session the Elkhorn Area School Board completed a set of routine but consequential governance tasks, approving minutes, payments, personnel moves and calendar changes before adjourning to a closed session on a personnel matter.
Minutes and bills
The board approved the minutes of its Oct. 27 regular meeting by roll call. The business office presented the general and other fund bills for payment (US Bank checks 155700–155701; BMO checks 160816–160918; wires 581–585; ACH 320–356) totaling $321,041.94; the board approved those payments by roll‑call vote.
Personnel and appointments
Personnel recommendations were presented and the board approved the full personnel sheet, conditional on background checks and district‑required drug screening. The packet included several resignations (Caitlin Freytag, Matthew Hager, Aaron Taylor) and new assignments, including Aaron Pawlowski’s appointment as the next middle‑school associate principal.
Gifts and calendar
The board accepted donations: $500 from the Columbia Patrick Council to the options music program and $100 in snack donations from the HealthBurn Soccer Club. Members also voted to move the district’s single December board meeting from Dec. 8 to Dec. 15 to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Adjournment to closed session
A board member moved to adjourn into contemplated closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c) to discuss a personnel matter; roll‑call voting approved the motion and the board did not plan to reconvene in open session.
