The Sylvania Schools Board of Education voted to appoint Tim Ziroff as the district's next superintendent, with the contract to take effect Aug. 1, 2026.

Board members moved and seconded the appointment during the regular meeting. Trustees recorded affirmative roll-call votes, and Ziroff thanked the board after the motion passed, saying, “Thanks for the 5 votes.”

Why it matters: The appointment names an internal candidate to replace current Superintendent Dr. Motley, who will remain in place through July 31, 2026, creating an overlap intended to support a planned transition.

Board members described Ziroff’s experience in the district and statewide education. A presenter said Ziroff “has been in education for 28 years,” including roles as a teacher, athletic director and assistant superintendent, and said the board had considered a search before deciding the district had “the perfect candidate right here.”

Assistant and board members offered public praise for the selection. Veronica, speaking in support, said the appointment “marks an important moment for our district” and added, “I am confident, 100% confident, the Sylvania schools will continue to thrive under your leadership.”

Ziroff told the board he would continue in his current role through July 31 and emphasized his commitment to the district and its staff and students. He also recognized family and support staff in the audience.

Next steps: The district will implement the transition through the summer; Ziroff’s contract becomes effective Aug. 1, 2026, and Dr. Motley will remain on duty through July 31, 2026 to support a handoff.
