Whitestown Fire Board recognizes two officers with badge-pinning ceremony

The Town of Whitestown Fire Board on Nov. 5 held a ceremonial badge-pinning to mark two administrative promotions within the Whitestown Fire Department.
Fire Chief said it was his "honor as fire chief to be able to uphold the traditions of the fire service and to continue to honor and celebrate the promotions and the achievements of our personnel." He introduced Ken Van Camp, who has served with the department since 2015 and was described as a fitness trainer and engineer who was promoted to division chief of training and safety; Van Camp was pinned by his mother, Brenda. The chief also announced the promotion of Sam Shell, a six-year department member promoted to deputy chief of operations; Shell was pinned by his daughter.
Board members and attendees offered brief congratulations. The Chair thanked both officers and noted appreciation for their service, wishing them well in their new roles. The ceremony was followed by the routine business portion of the board’s meeting.
