Staff said the CPI baseline used in levy calculations is 2.9 percent and that new construction within the district brings their estimate to about 3.7 percent; recommending 3.9 percent provides an estimated $300,000 cushion because two variables in the levy formula will not be finalized until the spring.
On grants, staff described a recurring state maintenance grant that matches up to $50,000 and requires an eligible project of at least $100,000. The district is targeting replacement of the Vernon Hills pool air-handler as the proposed eligible project and will present the grant request for board approval at the November board meeting; staff said the state typically disburses funds quickly after the district completes the application.
Staff also noted two small items — a refrigerator and a mower — will be placed on the consent agenda for disposal. No final levy vote or grant award occurred at the committee meeting; both will be handled by the full board.
