A crossing guard, who identified herself during the hearing, said she frequently sees students run across busy streets and warned that ‘‘if there’s a donut waiting for them, oh my gosh, who knows what they’ll do,’’ describing the addition of a drive‑through as a potential distraction to children and parents during drop‑off and pickup.
Other residents cited school pickup schedules that leave only minutes between dismissals at nearby schools and said the extra commercial traffic could complicate an already tight local pattern. The council closed the hearing; no action or vote on the zoning change was recorded that evening.
