The Waukesha Transit Commission voted Thursday to accept a low bid from Cummins Sales and Service to perform two midlife engine rehabilitations on Waukesha’s large buses.
Waukesha Metro staff presented three bids for engine replacements; the low bid from Cummins was listed as $43,326.77 per engine, for a combined total of $86,653.54 for two engines. Staff reported Crete’s price was substantially higher and one regular bidder did not submit because of an ongoing buyout.
Commissioner Eric Payne moved to accept the Cummins bid; the motion was seconded and the commission carried the award by roll call. There were no substantive questions or objections during the brief discussion.
What happens next: staff will execute procurement documents with Cummins and schedule the rehabs per the department’s vehicle-maintenance plan.
