Warren County animal-control update: intakes fall, licensing push planned

Nathan, the county’s animal-control supervisor, told the Warren County Board of Commissioners that the department handled just over 1,100 calls last year — about 250 after-hours — and brought in 531 dogs, down from roughly 1,200–1,300 a decade ago. "So our current numbers as far as calls go, last year we handled just over 1100 calls," Nathan said. He added that 183 of the animals taken in were claimed, about 35 percent, and the remainder were transferred to the humane association for adoption.
