During council discussion, a member noted the originally proposed closure started at 6:00 a.m. and suggested amending the resolution to begin at 5:00 a.m.; the clerk confirmed the version before council closed at 5:00 a.m. The council then voted to adopt the resolution as amended.
The resolution directs city staff to request extended closure hours from VDOT; the council member who moved the amendment said community members brought the request to council attention.
