The planning commission on Nov. 10 approved SDP25-011, a minor site-development plan to permit frosted-window glazing on selected windows of a tenant build-out in the Canal Pointe Industry and Commerce Park.
Staff said the Violet Pointe Overlay District requires Planning and Zoning Commission approval for frosted glazing; the applicant requested the treatment to obscure views into a warehousing area, protect materials from exposure and reduce theft. Staff recommended a white dusted matte finish as the least reflective and most natural option among three samples presented.
Commissioners confirmed the treatment applies to the glass circled in staff’s plans (all glass shown in the referenced photograph) and clarified that the frosted treatment would be applied to the circled windows and doors. Commissioner Deeds moved to approve the site plan with the condition that the white dusted matte finish be used; the motion passed unanimously by roll call.
Staff said frosted glazing and any spandrel glass must be explicitly approved and that typical blackout film or spandrel glass remain prohibited without separate approval; the commission’s action permits the specified glazing treatment as part of the applicant’s site-development submittal.
