The Chambers County Commission Court on Oct. 14 approved updated language to a 1987 resolution governing weight limits on Fisher Road to align the county’s rules with the current transportation code and to clarify the fine structure.
County staff told the court the update was a “freshening up” of language rather than a change to the underlying limits. Dylan, representing staff, said the concrete portion of Fisher Road remains subject to the existing agreement with the Cedar Port Navigation District and that the resolution does not eliminate other enforcement options or additional fines.
Commissioner Dragley moved the resolution and Commissioner Tynes seconded; the court voted in favor and the motion carried.
Court members said they had received calls after the item appeared on the agenda and emphasized the change was intended to clarify statutory references and the county’s enforcement options rather than to widen or narrow weight limits.
The court’s packet includes an exhibit map showing the restricted section; staff noted the exhibits describe the asphalt versus concrete portions of the route. The resolution will replace the older language with references to the current transportation code.
