Board previews 'Vision 2030' plan and asks for input on graduate portrait and values

District leaders presented an overview of the Vision 2030 strategic-plan process and asked the board for early feedback on key elements.
Dr. Schuler said the plan will be organized around six components: vision elements (including a portrait of a graduate), strategy elements (academic and operational excellence), metrics, engagement processes, a concise product that can fit on one page and a deployment strategy to keep the plan active over four years. "Our goal is to bring you a recommended work plan each summer tied to the strategies and the plan," Schuler said.
Board members praised the condensed format and operational–academic split but urged careful consideration of the portrait of a graduate and recommended adding an explicit values or principles statement (honor, integrity, community service). Several directors stressed agility, a continued focus on learning and tying the plan to measurable work each year.
Next steps: district staff will incorporate feedback and return with more detailed materials in January and during spring planning sessions.
