At the Nov. meeting the Yuma Union High School District—s director of finance, Brenda Yegaram, presented the district—s monthly budget update and answered board questions about insurance and spending timing.
Yegaram reported the district—s maintenance and operations budget for fiscal year 2025–26 at $106,000,976 with $23,000,311.61 expended as of Nov. 3 (about 22%). The capital budget was listed at $11,087,304 with $2,189,873 expended as of Nov. 3 (about 20%). The district—s student activities cash balance was reported at $706,703.36; Yegaram noted a month where student-activities expenditures exceeded revenues by $28,184.12.
A board member asked why the insurance and bonding percentage moved from 93% to 92%; Yegaram explained those costs (including workers— compensation) are prepaid at the start of the fiscal year, which lowers the percent remaining as the year progresses and should not cause the district to go over budget for those items. The board did not take any fiscal policy action at the meeting; Yegaram invited further questions and said line-item details are in the board packet.
