The Schererville Town Council voted Nov. 12 to contract London Whitney Group (not to exceed $12,000) to conduct a cost-of-service study of the fire department—s ambulance charges and billing practices.
Andy said the last such study was in 2019, and staff expects COVID-era changes have altered costs. The study will analyze current costs per ambulance call and recommend rate adjustments if warranted; staff said any recommended rate increases would be presented to the council before implementation.
On community support items, council approved a $1,000 donation to the Cherryville Baseball League (motion passed 4–1 after one member opposed doing so for what he called a single team), a $500 donation to Logan's Love and accepted $3,409.39 in October donations and in-kind contributions to various town funds.
Next steps: the London Whitney Group will perform the study and return recommendations; staff will process donation checks and record in town accounts.
