DRC reports 16 October applications, highlights 304-unit South Brunswick redevelopment

Planning staff presented the Development Review Committee (DRC) activity for October and said there were 16 applications: three subdivisions, six site plans and seven extensions (compared with 21 applications in October 2024). The staff report identified two new residential lots in Cranbury and two new lots in South Brunswick created through subdivision approvals.
The staff highlighted a major site-plan application—AST South Brunswick Urban Renewal—for redevelopment of the former Long Beacon office building on Route 1 into a six‑story residential building with 304 units and 639 parking spaces; staff noted that the project does not have county road frontage. Another site plan, Key Truck Leasing on South Clinton Avenue in South Plainfield, proposed an addition to an existing truck-repair facility and required the applicant to provide sidewalk, curbing and ADA curb ramps along the county frontage to be certified as ADA compliant after construction. A site-plan adaptation for 2075 Englishtown Road in Old Bridge proposes a 6,975-square-foot building and public improvements including sidewalk, curbing and ADA ramps; staff noted the county will obtain necessary right-of-way or easements to allow future installation of improvements.
Staff also said they processed three exam site plans in October, all commercial uses in Monroe, Oak Ridge and Woodbridge, and invited questions on the public-review materials.
