The Monte Vista Chamber announced the city’s acceptance into a CTO/OEDIT destination mentorship program and the formation of an advisory Tourism Advisory Council (MVTAC). The city selected Fable Communications (Ryan Scavo) as the marketing consultant to develop tourism identity and off-season promotions.
Heather, executive director of the Monte Vista Chamber of Commerce, told the council the city was accepted into a destination mentorship program administered by the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) through OEDIT. The program will supply about 100 hours of consulting and technical assistance to build on the city’s earlier destination-blueprint work.
Heather said the mentorship will help the newly created Monte Vista Tourism Advisory Council (MVTAC) formalize promotion and off-season marketing. She described the advisory group as a stakeholder network including chamber members, hoteliers, restaurateurs and other community participants and said the TAC’s primary goal is to promote tourism in Monte Vista.
Heather said the consultant selected via RFP is Fable Communications and that Ryan Scavo will serve as the marketing consultant with a scope of work that includes identity development, promotion of events and support through roughly October of next year. Councilors asked about membership and meeting timing; Heather said the TAC’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday the 11th at 5:30 p.m.
No formal council vote was required for the announcement; Heather encouraged community members to participate and mentioned potential co-branding and grant opportunities associated with a statewide 250th anniversary initiative.
