Board reviews multiple policy drafts; staff to correct OSBA formatting before finalization

Board members sought clarification and Dr. Mooney confirmed the revised text would direct submissions to the teacher, not the principal.
On IKF (graduation requirements), multiple board members and counsel noted confusing numbering and indentation in the draft. Dr. Mooney said extended‑diploma language had been added and that OSBA provided the document; she will work with OSBA to correct formatting and footnote numbering prior to finalization.
The board also reviewed JFCEB (personal electronic devices) and a proposed replacement administrative regulation, JFCEBA R, which establishes an exemption request process. Dr. Mooney said exemption forms would be submitted to the principal and that appeals would go to the superintendent designee; approved exemptions would be limited to the current school year. Board members asked for small editorial fixes (removal of an obsolete footnote, clearer wording about devices stored on a student's person but not used) and for clarification of who signs and who hears appeals.
No final votes to adopt any of the policies occurred at the meeting. Board members repeatedly emphasized that the drafts require formatting and numbering fixes (some of the confusion stems from OSBA document formatting) and directed staff to correct those issues with OSBA before bringing final versions back for action.
