Worth County authorizes DD10 repairs, reclassification and engineering procurement

Worth County supervisors voted to approve a work order to repair a recent ditch blowout and to begin a reclassification process for Drainage District DD10.
Staff told the board the initial cleaning work last summer had been billed to a different main (Upper DD10 main) and that crews upstream were not billed for work along a nearby lateral. Supervisors said the damaged stretch may not have been constructed to the proper standard historically and that mapping inconsistencies mean some laterals and parcels may be unaccounted for.
The board approved the work order to have county crews (or contractors) repair the blowout and then approved a motion to reclassify DD10 so that the district map and schedule reflect the physical drainage network, including laterals. The motion was amended to authorize the county to solicit engineering proposals (RFP or multiple bids) to perform the reclassification and related engineering analysis.
A supervisor noted mapping anomalies and said engineers will need to analyze the whole area to determine whether adjacent districts should be included in any reclassification. The board approved the amended motion by voice vote.
Staff will prepare an RFP or solicit bids from engineering firms to undertake the reclassification study and will report back with a procurement recommendation.
