Michael Dingus of OCEA spoke during the public comment period in favor of the app's potential to give staff more control over pay and to reduce reliance on predatory lending. He said, however, that employees need to know what employer-accessible information the app will reveal. "I want people to be aware, what their employer can and cannot see before they sign up for it," Dingus said, noting the app also includes budgeting features that may display subscriptions and other personal financial details.
District leaders responded that the app is used by many districts and that it is secure. Superintendent Chambers and other staff said the district will roll out an "extensive education program" specific to the app and will include clear information about data sharing so employees can make informed enrollment decisions. A district presenter emphasized that the app will not change payroll department functions and called the app "another option for employees to ... leverage some of their abilities inside their own pay structure."
No policy changes or enrollment steps were finalized during the meeting; district staff said they will provide detailed information during the forthcoming rollout and education sessions.
