Summary
Michael Bollinger, director of the Bartlett Performing Arts Center, outlined the venue's upcoming season, listed headline performers and family shows, and described arts-and-education programming that brings free morning performances for Bartlett schoolchildren.
Michael Bollinger, director of the Bartlett Performing Arts Center, presented an overview of the center's first-half season and described the venue's arts-and-education outreach at the Oct. 14 Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting.
"Hi. I'm Michael Bollinger. I'm the director of the Bartlett Performing Arts Center. I actually am a resident of Bartlett," Bollinger said as he introduced the season. He noted the center recently staged Theater By The Lake and announced headliners including T. Graham Brown, a CMA award winner and Grand Ole Opry member, and a Darcy Lynn ventriloquist performance that Bollinger said has already sold out at BPAC.
Other scheduled performances Bollinger mentioned included a Chicago tribute act ("Chicago Transit Authority"), a concert by Elizabeth von Trapp, a family-oriented production called Artrageous, a Broadway run of The Wedding Singer, a Nutcracker presentation and a Linda Ronstadt tribute starring Tristan McIntosh in January. Bollinger said ticketing information and seat reservations are available at bpac.org and noted that all seats at BPAC are reserved.
Bollinger described BPAC's arts-and-education program, which brings in artists to perform two free morning shows (approximately 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.) for Bartlett school students on the morning of some engagements, with a lower-cost public show later in the day. "We only have 350 seats," Bollinger said, adding that depending on attendance the program could bring as many as 2,100 children to free education performances over the season. He also cited ticket prices for family shows as about $15 for children and $20 for adults.
Bollinger closed by inviting residents to buy tickets online and attend performances. No board action or vote was taken on the presentation; it was delivered as information.
